MCA Visual Arts department strives to provide a place for students to discover and explore their God-given talents and creativity through personal expression. Our desire is for students to increase in the knowledge of their Creator through the study and appreciation of His creation and the gift of creativity that we have as image-bearers of Christ.
Middle School Art focuses on introducing students to a variety of art media and techniques through production of 2D and 3D artworks, as well as continuing their study of art history and the fundamental elements and principles of art.
Upper school Art students will expand on this knowledge and apply it creatively to produce artwork with special attention to content and communicating their unique Christian perspective. Art classes in the Upper School progress from Beginning Art, through Intermediate Art and Advanced Art/Portfolio.
Both Middle School and Upper School Visual Art provides students have the opportunity to exhibit their work at MCA Fine Arts events throughout the year. Students also represent MCA at TAPPS and ACSI Art Competitions in the Spring and have earned placement in District and State Art events.
