Community Service

When Jesus explained His reason for coming to earth, He was simple and direct: to serve and to give.

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”  Mark 10:45 (ESV)

Yet, the motivation to help and encourage...to serve our fellow man is waning in today’s world.  Therefore, our goal in the Lower School is to encourage every child to see himself as one who serves and gives without reservation, for the glory of Jesus Christ.  We focus on our students “seeing” the needs of their classmates. Look to the people close to you to serve. Help others each day and make your classmates day the best day ever.  Look for ways to help each other and focus on others before yourself.

MCA has been blessed with the ability to share love and pray for children less fortunate in Collin County. To fulfill this mission, MCA Lower School began partnering with CASA of McKinney to make an impact in the lives of the children under CASA’s care.

Our MCA students take the lead, with teacher and parent support, make and sell Val-O-Grams to the student body to raise money for the children at CASA.

For a week during lunch, the Lower School students and parents take Val-O-Gram orders for .25 cents each. The purchaser would be handed a prepared Val-O-Gram and instructed to fill out the “To” and “From” on the Val-O-Gram. Candy is then attached to the completed Val-O-Gram and the delivery process begins! After lunch, the students organize the Val-O-Grams into the specific classes to deliver that afternoon.  This goes on for the entire week leading up to Valentine's day.

Each day students, teachers, administrators, and parents share in the joy of sending and receiving love.  The most incredible aspect of this endeavor is that the giving spirit reaches so many levels. First, the 2nd-5th grade students, parents and teachers give of their time and energy to work the program.  Secondly, the entire Lower School embraces the opportunity to buy the Val-O-Grams to express love and kindness to their fellow students and teachers.  Thirdly, God’s love is shown to CASA, MCA students, MCA parents, MCA administration, and all the CASA children across Collin County.
