Congratulations to the 6th Grade Patriot’s Pen Essay Winners
MCA sixth graders participated in the Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest entitled “Does Patriotism Still Matter?” in October of 2011 and winners were announced on Januray 23, 2012 in Chapel.
Sixth through 8th graders from all over McKinney are eligible to enter.
The Commander of the local VFW Post Jim Nichols was in Chapel to announce the winners. They are:
1st Kjerstyn Franzmeier and the winner of $150
2nd Abigail Gordon and the winner of $100
3rd Banks Presson and the winner of $50
4th Madison Yates
5th Cameron Baller
6th Megan Garms
7th Ashley Proctor
“We are connected to the VFW through our mission project in 6th grade. We send cards and care packages to soldiers through the VFW twice a year. It has been a great program.” said Mrs. Clark, 6th grade teacher.
This is the third year for MCA to enter the contest and we have had winners every year.
