Beverly Dooley, Ph.D., is a pioneer in the story of the Dallas Dyslexia Program and was honored with six others in April 2011 by the Academic Language Therapy Association. Early on in her teaching experiences she could identify the bright student that was struggling and God gave her the wisdom to pursue her passion of finding a way to help the struggling student. Being trained at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital was her first initiation with dyslexia and what it meant. Pursuing her dreams with an awesome husband and two children by her side, she directed the curriculum at The Shelton School for twelve years, where helping teachers to help children became the goal. Dr. June Shelton, in her infinite wisdom, told her that if she helped one teacher, that would in turn, help six children; by doing this she would have the ability to help so many more children. She is now leading the Directed Studies program at McKinney Christian Academy.
Dr. Dooley has been training teachers that come from around the United States to become certified as licensed academic language therapists for many years, as well as, directing a school for children that learn differently.
Dr. Dooley has been married to Patrick O. Dooley for forty-two years in August 2011. They have two children and four grandchildren (the love of their lives). She is honored to become a part of a Christian school like McKinney Christian Academy.
