International Students
McKinney Christian Academy welcomes the addition of international students! The international students who attend MCA from abroad are Christian students who come from Christian homes, but are often unable to talk about their faith or study it openly for fear of persecution in their country. At MCA, these students are able to openly speak about Jesus Christ and advance their knowledge of Scripture; all while being embraced by other Christian teachers and students. Our international students are granted I-20 student status when accepted and attend MCA after being issued an F-1 student visa.
The requirements for acceptance for international students are much the same as for local students:
- Families must be growing in their personal Christian walk and be active members and involved in their local church (when permissible in their country). McKinney Christian Academy requires at least one parent be a Christian;
- Students must live with their family or a Christian Host Family while attending MCA;
- Students are required to have an academic record that demonstrates proven capability to succeed in our program;
- Students’ behavioral, emotional and social histories are to be in harmony with the expectations of McKinney Christian Academy;
- Admissions SLEP and SAT10 testing score requirements:
- 7th – 12th grades - Secondary Level English Proficiency test (SLEP) scores must be 46 or above
- 6th – 12th grades - Stanford Achievement Test must be in the “above average” range (50% or above)
- Students are to be 19-years-old or younger when completing 12th grade; and
- First year students are required to enroll in additional Directed Studies classes to assist them with their English proficiency and transition into our college-prep curriculum.
