The SAT® Test sections are Reading; Writing and Language; Math - no calculator; and Math - calculator; and an optional Essay.

Preparing

The best long-term preparation for the SAT® is to take rigorous courses and apply your full effort to your classroom studies. Most of the test content is derived from high school course content.  Additional preparation, study, and practice is often needed for students to achieve their personal admission and scholarship goals. There is no longer a penalty for guessing on the SAT -- show what you know and leave nothing blank.

Registering

Registration for the SAT® is online through http://sat.collegeboard.org/
Students create a personal college board account that will be used for SAT and also for AP if the student enrolls in AP courses. Note the username and password as you will have to access this account to view your scores. You have the option to send scores to up to 4 colleges for free at the time of registration and we recommend you do so. A fee is assessed to send scores at a later date.

Question and Answer Service

Available only on specific test dates, this service provides students with the test questions, the student’s answers and the answer key. You may order the service at the time of registration or up to five months after the test date for an added fee.

Student College Board Account

College Board provides a wide array of services to students and administers the PSAT®, SAT®, AP and CLEP tests. One student account is all that is needed to access the student’s score history and records. The same account can be used to access Big Future, College Board’s college search and planning tool available for free.

Sending Scores to Colleges

Many colleges require official scores directly from SAT® for admissions applications. At the time of registration, you may select up to four colleges to receive the student’s scores for free. After scores are released, the student may return to http://sat.collegeboard.org/scores/send-sat-scores at any time to order and pay for scores to be sent. A fee is charged for each score report ordered. Processing may take 2-3 weeks, so advanced planning is important to meet college and scholarship application deadlines.
